Other Grotto Committees
The Saftey Committe strives to ensure that safe caving techniques are followed by
grotto members and special efforts are made with potential members. The Grotto promotes safe caving techniques among all its members and potential members.
The Grotto has set up a Safety Committee, consisting of current Grotto members.
Safety Committee members are responsible for setting up and maintaining a "Call Down Tree"
to be used in an emergency to call members for a quick response in conducting a rescue operation.
The Safety Committee was established to facilitate the Grotto preparedness, should the
need arise.
In addition, the Saftey Committee occasionally recommends training or events that will enhance grotto members safe practices,
knowledge and skills.
If you are interested in being a part of the Safety Committe contact any Grotto Officer.

The Conservation Committee tries to suggest grotto projects
that everyone can participate in. The Committee attempts to increase the
memberships awareness for cave conservation, karst responsibility and
overall environmental conservation.
The Conservation Committee has organized several Grotto Cave Clean-up
programs. In conjuction with the Illinois Department of Conservation
the Grotto has an annual clean-up of an Illinois cave.
The Conservation Committee brings conservation related articles, cave clean-up
programs and techniques to the memberships attention and tries to foster
overall environmental conservation/recycling awareness.
The Conservation Committee is always looking for worthwhile cave conservation projects. Contact
Genie Schropp if you have an idea or are interested in
being a member of this committee.
