WILLIAMSON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
SPECIAL AWARDS
Officers of the Sheriff's Department are recognized for their efforts and accomplishments by the awarding of Service Ribbons. These ribbons are worn on the right side of their shirt, just above their name tags.
These awards include:
VALOR CROSS
Awarded to any officer for conspicuous heroism in the line of duty under circumstances of extreme personal hazard that are above and beyond the call of duty.
SHERIFF'S STAR
Awarded to any officer who is injured or killed while engaged in armed combat with a suspect.
LIFE SAVING RIBBON
Awarded to any officer who performs a lifesaving act which results in an actual human life being saved.
MERITORIOUS SERVICE RIBBON
Awarded to any officer who contributes to a more effective department or for outstanding police work in a case of an unusual public interest.
COMMENDATION RIBBON
Awarded to any officer for an outstanding act or achievement that involves performances above and beyond the call of duty.
UNIT COMMENDATION RIBBON
Awarded to officers of a unit who exhibited exceptional professional skill and conduct during a coordinated action.
OFFICER OF THE YEAR RIBBON
Awarded to one officer of each division that exemplifies the true spirit of a law enforcement officer by his peers and the Sheriff.
DISTINGUISHED SERVICE RIBBON
Awarded to any officer who serves two years in a position of unique responsibility; or who has separated from the Department under honorable conditions and has 10 years of service.
LONG AND HONORABLE SERVICE RIBBON
Awarded to any officer who has attained 20 years of honorable service with the Department.
SERVICE RIBBON
Awarded to any officer who attains 5 years of service.
MILITARY SERVICE RIBBON
Awarded to any officer who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
