Williamson County Sheriff's Office

SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER'S PROGRAM

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office has been a proud participant of the School Resource Officer's (SRO) Program since 1998. The Sheriff's Office has been awarded two grants to fully fund the program for three-years by the U.S. Department of Justice.

The School Resource Officer (SRO) concept is to place experienced law enforcement professional in the participating Williamson County Schools by the Sheriff's Office.

DO WE REALLY NEED A COP IN OUR SCHOOLS?

  • Nationwide, 1 in 5 students report they are threatened each year with physical violence
  • 1/3rd of 9-12th graders report being a victim of a theft or vandalism while at school
  • 40% report the behavior of other students interferes with their learning environment

WHAT DO THESE OFFICERS DO?

As a security specialist the officer is available to help maintain a safe, secure and orderly environment.

As an educator, the officer is trained to assist in the classroom as a law-related and health/safety presenter.
